Apple Crisp: An Atlantic Canadian Classic

Ingredients

8-10 apples, peeled and sliced

1/2 Cup vegan butter

1 Cup rolled oats

1 Cup all-purpose flour

1 Cup brown sugar

1 Tbsp cinnamon

Juice from one lemon

1/2 Cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

 

  1. Preheat oven to 180C/350F.

  2. Place chopped apples (and raisins) in a greased, oven safe dish.

  3. Drizzle lemon juice over the apples and toss.

  4. In a separate bowl cut the dry ingredients into the butter. Don’t overmix, it should form a loose crumble.

  5. Spread the crumble over top of the apples and bake for 30-50 minutes (until the apples are tender).

  6. Let cool slightly and serve warm (with ice cream!)
